Brown All Over is a celebration of colors, including the colors of our skin. It features a young boy's attempt to use all of the colors in his crayon box with the help of his family members and his realization that he is part of the color spectrum, too. It is a great book for children and families.
Janaka Bowman Lewis, Ph.D. lives near Charlotte, North Carolina, where she teaches English, African American Studies, and Gender Studies at UNC Charlotte. She is a native of Augusta, Georgia and a graduate of Duke University and Northwestern University. Most importantly, though, she is the mother to a little boy, Justus Daniel, who inspired this book and who delights her and her husband Daryl daily.
