Sleep apnea is the end result of a clash between normal body functioning and anatomy, aided by gravity and the effects of aging. Prompt treatment could prevent multiple medical complications and improve health while reducing the cost of healthcare.
This informative book is written in a uniquely conversational style, explains medical terms in a readable format, is sprinkled with useful illustrations, and is targeted at the average reader who has a problem with snoring and is beginning to have medical problems.
I am a board certified psychiatrist in private practice in Lakeland, Florida for the past 25 years now. I was diagnosed with unusually severe obstructive sleep apnea early this year (2011). Due to the tremendous improvement of my health, I decided to write this book to inform, educate, and warn the general public of the real dangers posed by sleep apnea. In this book, I tried to provide a unique perspective of what it is like to be a grateful patient while remaining an ordinary physician. I have been married for the past 30 years now to my wonderful and ever-loving wife. I have 2 grown-up children one of whom is a graduate in Criminology and the younger one currently going into her third year in medical school. I own and operate BRAIN CHEM CENTER LLC.
