Poems are from the heart. God gave thought and the process became print. After the lost of mother in 2006, hence the inspiration for this book. The first poem, Precious Memories help to deal with the lost of mother. Other poems are random encouragement for all. Some are old and some are new but all are for enjoyment. Some rhyme and others are fact-finding types. You will find Poetry/General, Religious/Holidays/Christmas/Inspirational, and Nature/General. Hope and love in the world today, a must for our society. For example, the poem Grass-hoppers alert you, realizing we are but grass-hoppers, struggling to survive because of the economy we face. Yet, other poems show generosity of our neighbors, and give praise to a higher power for his grace and love.

Precious Memories

I remember Mother
In special ways
The way she smiled
The way she laughed

The way she talked
The way she walked
The way she cared for others
The way she shared

The way she cooked
The way she baked
The way she sat on the porch
In her favorite rocking chair

Watching the people
Traveling to and fro
Whether walking or riding
Always, a smile and hello

While growing up
Mother showed her love
Caring for us daily
Giving an example of good

Making patterns and sewing clothes
For her daughters attire
Taylor made to fit
Happy to make adjustments

Cleanliness a must
Seven days a week
Family dish washing daily
Keeping our home clean

Working for the school cafeteria
Making breakfast and lunch
Feeding all who came
For twenty-cent a plate

A good listener
When you needed an ear
Telling what is necessary
To weather the storm

Thinking of Precious memories
Missing her all the more
Waiting for guidance
Understanding how great

Precious Memories, how vivid!
Mother’s day come and go
Memories are abundant
Realizing how special

Precious memories, how they loiter!

My Two Year Old Grazing

Early to rise
To the morning skies
I’ll see what awaits
On my breakfast plate

Put on my clothes
My socks and my shoes
For I am going to school
With my brother’s tools

Then come the tears
When told what he fears
No school my thirst
Until you are thrice

He repeats every word
That he has heard
With details that are amazing
For such a little grazing

He talks with his toys
About other little boys
And chats with his friend
Who never bends

How can such a tiny tot?
Have such an imaginary art
With plenty of energy to spare
And lots of joy to share

Dedicated to my son C. M.

Notable Inquisitive

A boy scout quite early
Learned skills for success
Earned merit badges
And preparation for camping

Attended meetings
Planned for the future
How to set up tents
And prepare food to eat

Inquisitive when young
Taking toys apart,
Put them back together again and again
He enjoyed the challenge

Started drawing characters
Transformers and such
Artistic with a passion
What an imagination?

Notable inquisitive
Learning to walk early
Notable inquisitive
Learning to think first

Dedicated to my son A. M.

Wars Raging

Trouble in our country
Tearing apart our lives
Marching because of jobs
Marching because of illegal’s

Hate groups are raging
Throughout the land
Starting upheaval everywhere
Watching the chaos

Politician against politician
Democrats against Republicans
White power uprising
Trying to start mutiny

War in Iran
War in Iraq
War in Africa
War in Afghanistan

Where are we headed?
Where are our values?
Where is our compassion?
Where is love?

When will it cease?
What will it take?
How can we fix?
Can we move forward?

Wars and rumors of wars raging. How can you help?

Summer In Turkey

The heat is raging
The people pacing
On every corner
That’s always a sauna

From dawn till dust
This is a must
To earn ones’ pay
With slightly a tray

On Wednesday and Friday
The market is bounty
With plenty of money
Could bring much honey

The beaches are crowded
With crazed devourer
The tourists are stripping
The locals are slipping

This country is strict
With many a tricks
Protecting its’ own
In times of storm

Thread lightly
As foreigners see
Summer in Turkey
Can ignite fun

Growing up in the South, early on, enjoyed English and Literature. While in Middle school, one of my teachers taught enjoyment in reading literature, from that experience, poetry was it. She read with such feeling, giving knowledge of how the author felt. After High school, attended business school and worked in the world of business accepting and mastering different types of jobs. Attended college part-time in hopes of getting a degree in Accounting. Started writing poetry while overseas in the mid 80's. In 1988 and 1989, entered poetry contests with World of Poetry, winning Golden poet award, but the children were growing up and needed attention, writing had to wait. Finally finished my schooling and graduated with a degree in Accounting. Throughout the working and parenting years, writing remained in the background. After retirement, turned on the computer, with God's help began to write poems. Now, ready to publish for the first time.
