This Bald Eagle is about ten weeks old. The feathers on his head and tail will turn white when he is five years old. He should be high up in a tree, but an awful thing happened before he was ready to fly-the wind blew over the tree his nest was in. He was lucky he didn't get crushed! Since he couldn't fly, he had to spend time on the ground. After a few days, he learned to hop on fallen tree trunks and get on branches to be off the ground. His parents brought him food. They didn't have any trouble finding him, because he squawked very loud when he was hungry. He learned to fly ten days later, and flew off with his parents to learn how to live on his own.
