The Gospel of Matthew, volume two, is the second in a seven volume set. Three hundred and twenty five sermons were preached, in a seven and a half year period, in public worship, through every word and every verse of the Gospel.

The apostle John - exiled on the Isle of Patmos, and writing in about 65 A.D., says this: “I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and heard behind be a great voice, as of a trumpet, saying, “I AM Alpha and Omega, the first and the last; and, What you see, write in a book, and send it unto the seven Churches which are in Asia; ... and I turned to see the voice that spake with me, And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; and in the midst of the seven candlesticks One like unto the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and a girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and His hair were white like wool, as white as snow; and His eyes were as a flame of fire; and His feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and His voice as the sound of many waters. And He had in His right hand seven stars; and out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword; and His countenance was as the sun shining its strength.”

As the prophecy of Daniel promised, so it was to come to pass - as the apostle John saw - the Son of Man appears, dressed for warfare and rule and dominion!

And that's exactly what the Lord Jesus prophesies about Himself in our text as recorded by the apostle Matthew in chapter twenty four: “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, and from one end of the heaven to the other.”
