What you have in your hands is a great resource of WCFL information from 1965-1976. I was a big fan of this radio station from 1971-76. I first started listening to WCFL while listening to Jerry Kay, Dick Biondi and Larry O'Brien when I came home from school in 1971. I really loved the slogans "Big 10 WCFL" and "All Hit Music." The excitement of the radio station continued in 1972 when Larry Lujack came aboard and the station called itself "Super CFL." Big Ron O'Brien was a big inspiration to me in the nighttime as was Dr. Brock and Johnny Driscoll. It was one of the saddest days of my life when WCFL changed from rock to beautiful music on March 15, 1976. I was really wondering at the time why the radio station had to change formats as I thought Super CFL was still a very good station. But now as I look back it was truly one of the greatest stations that ever existed and really gave WLS a run for their money. And now please enjoy this information and look back at a truly great era of Chicago radio history!

John Celarek has been a big fan of WCFL since the 1970's. He has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1985 and a Certified Management Accountant since 1993. He spends his spare time listening to top 40 music from the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's. He has been married to his wife Carol for over 25 years and has three kids, Adam, Laura and Graham. He resides in north suburban Chicago with his vast supply of WCFL memorabilia and airchecks.
