"32 and still single" takes a look at aspects of relationships of a normal 32 year old, and still single, woman, whose now decided she’s ready to settle down, but isn’t able to find a decent man. In order to figure out where she keeps going wrong (in failing to land a decent man), she looks at the type of people she’s dated, the things she allowed to be done to her, some things she has done, and how she dealt with certain situations.
Instead of trying to analyze entire relationships (which seems daunting to anyone), she has broken them down and given you her ideas of what she’ll do, next time around, in an attempt not to make the same mistakes again. Taking what she has learnt from analyzing her previous relationships, she attempts to make her “plan to land a man” by putting a list together of what she would like from her next relationship as well as the kinds of things she expects from it. This list helps her realize what kind of man she is looking for, things that will immediately disqualify certain men (so she doesn’t waste any more time) and gives her a new platform to start from in her search for that special someone.
It seems that relationships just seem to be getting more complex the older we get. We’re being burnt more each time another relationship ends and sometimes feel like that clock of ours is just racing out of control with no prospects of a successful relationship in sight. The more effort we seem to put into our relationships, the worse the result seems to become.
Well, don’t worry – you’re not alone. There are thousands of us out there going through exactly the same thing. We’ve read the self help books and have tried (we think) just about everything to find that illusive relationship that will make it all better! Yet we still have all the questions. At what point is it going to happen for us? When we will stop running around the dating circuit? Is there a Mr Right? If he’s out there, when is he going to come into our lives and sweep us off our feet? Will we ever be swept off our feet at all? Will we ever live happily ever after or are we doomed to growing old with our cats?
Well, relax! I’m certainly not a shrink – or even close – but I’m still in the same boat as the rest of you. Still trying to figure it all out!
Now this is not a bible about relationships by any means. It’s simply me expressing thoughts about things that have happened to me, how I felt about them at the time, how I feel about them now, and what I’ll do differently the next time around. I’m far from perfect, as some of you may be too, so it’s just a look at what I’ve been through to get here – at 32 and still single!
The author (as the books indicates) is 32 years old. She lives in a town where the women outnumber the men 7:1 and even though she works in a wonderful environment where she meets lots of fantastic people, doesn’t seem to meet anyone who ultimately has the same goals as she does. She’s ready to settle down and has decided it is time to get a little more focussed about finding that special someone.
