Provacative!  Touching!  Shameless!  Hilarious!   You decide.

"As a casual and transient observer of life," Dan Chapman reflects, "I have been fortunate enough to discover love in the process and recognize humor in both."  Dan's poetry is going to make you think, make you cry, or make you laugh, but he is going to leave an impression on you.

Lasting Impressions is a collection of Dan Chapman's poetry dedicated to themes of idle thought, beguiling love, and cliched humor.  Included are the author's reflections on social, religious, and personal issues, love defined and denied, as well as several absurd reflections.  "They are," as Chapman notes, "...some of my impressions of life occasionally based on love which often cause my laughter.

Enjoy them as Dan Chapman shares some "lasting impressions" with you.

         Lighthouse

Lofty, majestic, white tower-

Proud queen beaming in silent vigilance-

A revolving beacon permeating the night

Signals her subject to beware & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & nbsp;

Of lurking dangers

Near darkened shores.

Alone, cautious, unique architecture-

Solemn sentinel looming in fervent watch-

A nurturing force casting protective light

Guards by reminding a traveler at sea

That safety’s concern

Is constant duty.

Statuesque, determined, daylight figure-

Loyal strobe shining through perilous darkness-

The lighthouse’s silent resolve burning bright

Defends against evil’s schemes

Ensuring safe passage

For seafarer’s dreams.

Self-reliant, dependable shelter,

Loving guide glowing unconditionally bound,

Mother light illuminating with courageous might

Advises her child in confidence

Enlightening his voyage

With love's radiance.

        Wishful Thinking

Since “wishful thinking” fabricates

Pleasure’s release from lust’s headaches,

Copious sex merely demands

Assistance from a helping hand.

Thus, while spread-eagled upon our beds

With whimsy visions in our heads,

We fornicating frenzied-minds

Can seek satisfaction’s design...<

"In reality," suggests Dan Chapman, "lives are simply collections of impressions...from our reflective experiences."   Within his own life-experiences, Dan has been a teacher, a social worker, a minister, a construction worker, a world traveler, and a curious observer of people and human nature.  He feels that poetry has given him a unique means to write succinctly in meter and rhyme about those impressions.

& n b s p ; & nbsp;    Previously published in a variety of poetry journals, Dan has always enjoyed sharing his uniquely curious and often humorous observations of life and love from his world.  To Dan's thinking, life is challenging and love can be exhilarating, but you do neither justice unless they are both exhausting!"
