The tongue is very powerful and influential. It can build or destroy our relationships, self-esteem, self-image, or reputations. What amazes me is that we bless God with our tongues! Your tongue has been described in the bible as a little member of the body. (James 3:5) And it cannot be tamed by no man, an unruly evil, and full of deadly poison. We can bless or curse men with our tiny member the tongue.
Do you think of the results of your words before you speak? Do you consider the person’s feelings before you open your mouth? Are your words going to manipulate someone to see things your way? It is important that you know that death and life are in the power of the tongue. (Proverbs 18:21)
It is the Holy Spirit that allows us to filter every good or filthy word that comes forth out of our mouths. The spirit of God works to purge and make our hearts pure so that we have self-control before we speak. When you have evil communication with others, it is a representation of the condition of your heart. If your communication is uplifting, motivating, and life changing, it is the power of the holy-spirit working through you to build God’s kingdom.
