The Mercy and Grace of God are the essential reasons I am able to write this book as a living testimony of His faithfulness, goodness and righteousness. God’s love has protected, shielded and guided my life so that I may become a herald in such a time as this. I cannot take acclamation for all that He has and is doing. Everything I am is to His glory! Life experiences sometimes present much pain, fear and uncertainty disguised as “the normal way of life.” However, the reality is that the lies of Satan try to keep us in bondage by making us believe there is no way out, holding us captive from the truth that we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus! Knowing this truth renewed my mind, liberated my spirit, and revived my soul from the bitter roots which held me captive. Now I’m free. The Word of God is spirit and life causing light to illuminate in darkness. When embraced, God’s word will literally transform you into a new creation, the very image and likeness of our creator God. For those who are empowered by faith to believe, He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think. It is by His power within us that we are enabled to see through eyes of victory as sons and daughters of the Most High. For we are trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, bearing precious fruit of the Kingdom, that He might be glorified in the earth. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not promised, but your future is today when you look through the eyes of God. < o : p > & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & n b s p ; & nbsp; -- Daryel S. After Asceticism provides a close up look at the clergy sex abuse crisis still rocking the Catholic Church. The first study of its kind, it shows how the infiltration of therapeutic psychology on the training and lifestyles of clergy spawned a cavalier attitude in many priests and bishops about sex and prayer, causing the collapse of ascetical discipline with its devastating effects in the sex abuse crisis. Chapters probe the findings of the John Jay Report on clerical sexual misconduct; that sexual misconduct by priests was rare in the first half of the twentieth century because of the dedication to ascetical discipline; why the volumes of past research on the psychology of priests failed to predict the sexual crisis; whether homosexual priests can remain chaste. After Asceticism moves beyond criticism to an eye-opening explanation on how self-denial, fasting, and religious devotion work together to bolster attitudes and behavior for complete sexual abstinence. After Asceticism draws the connection between the ancient ideas about sex, prayer, and spiritual friendship with modern scientific research on the biology of fasting and the psychology of hope. It warns, however, that as society becomes more deeply immersed in pagan sexuality, the Catholic Church will remain mired in sexual crisis absent a return to its ascetical tradition.

By David Robert-John
In Our Gay Son, David Robert-John described how he came to realise that the Bible’s view of homosexuality was at odds with modern understanding. That was an extremely unsettling discovery for an evangelical Christian whose beliefs were based entirely on biblical teaching. In this sequel, the author continues his quest for truth by examining the Bible and asking how much traditional Christian belief can be derived with any certainty from its narratives. The disturbing answer seems to be very little. It is perhaps fortunate that religious beliefs seem to be grounded more in our emotions than in our intellect. This is not a book for the faint-hearted believer. The author raises concerns that most Christian leaders would prefer to be swept under the carpet and he asks questions that the faithful are discouraged even from thinking about. They are the concerns and questions that ultimately led to his own loss of faith because not only were there no satisfactory answers but nobody seemed to care. They are questions that will challenge even the most convinced, committed believers, and they leave the credibility of Christianity hanging by a thread.
