A year of sovietization was followed by four years of another occupation (1944-1945)— this time by the army of Hitler’s Third Reich. After < s t 1 : p l a c e > < s t 1 : c o u n t r y - region>Germany’s defeat, the Soviet occupation returned, lasting for the next forty-five years. The book is a documentary history of the presence of these two totalitarian ”great powers” on Latvia’s soil, the administrations they created, the policies they implemented, and the institutions of control they developed.  Containing some previously published documents (mostly concerning the German occupation), the bulk of the collection consists of the English-language translations of documents from the much longer Soviet period. The latter ended up in the national archives of < s t 1 : c o u n t r y -region>Latvia after the collapse of the < s t 1 : p l a c e > < s t 1 : c o u n t ry-region>USSR and the renewal of Latvian independence. A particularly noteworthy component of the Soviet-era documents are the internal reports (often marked ”top secret”) of the Soviet-era Latvian KGB, the internal memoranda of the Central Committee of the Latvian Communist Party, and the correspondence between the Latvian Party and its Moscow superiors. The subjects covered include the behavior of the Soviet army on Latvian soil, the sovietization of the Latvian economy, control over churches, punishment of dissidents, dealing with the Latvian émigré community, the treatment of the so-called ”national communists,” and the successful drive for independence from 1987 onward.

It’s said that you know when a Liberal is lying whenever you see his lips move. Liberals lie so much that their lies have been largely accepted as truth among the political inner- circle. This is damaging to our nation in countless ways. By telling us that terrorists can be reasoned and negotiated with, Liberals have put our national security in jeopardy. By telling us the use of racial profiling is offensive and cannot be tolerated, Liberals have effectively eliminated our use of intuition and common sense. By telling us tolerance and diversity are necessary to our nation’s fabric, Liberals have begun to divide America.

From their pseudo-patriotism and false pride in America to their institution of political correctness and enforcement of tolerance and diversity, Liberals are chipping away at the foundation of America. “Liberals Favorite Lies” attempts to open the eyes of the average American to the harm and devastation that these lies are beginning to cause. Using any lies to demonize Obama, the conservative crowd tries to frighten the
American people by accusing him of promoting CLASS WARFARE. During his
inspiring State of the Union, the President clearly stated that he and Democrats
are not at all against financial success. On the contrary, we admire success AS

that those, like Romney, who make millions annually from 'investments' will no
longer get taxed at a lower rate than Americans who must work for a living. Mr.
Romney only paid 13.9% on 40 + millions. If a group is promoting class warfare,
it is not the 99%; it is the 1% who successfully lobbied the GOP to lower the tax
rate on 'Investment/Capital Gain Incomes' to 15%. NOW THE GOP WANTS TO
LOWER THE RATE EVEN MORE! It is so repugnant that America's 2 richest men,
Bill Gates and Warren Buffet declared publicly that they should pay more taxes!
WB even cited his secretary who pays a higher tax rate on her 'EARNED INCOME'
$60,000 SALARY than WB's rate on his INVESTMENT INCOME of several millions.
