By Enzo Silvestri
Enzo began writing poetry at the age of 18, and he continued writing as he pursued different occupations and careers. The poems are largely drawn from his own experiences and or observations. Enzo rejects the notion of many modern poets who say that 'good' poetry shouldn't rhyme, and although some of his doesn't rhyme, he insists that a rhyming poem shows that the words are put together in a much more painstaking way. "Prose is words in their best order; Poetry is the best words in their best order." Samuel Taylor Coleridge Topics range: From Introspection I don't know what it is about me, Sometimes, I just want to be free To Extroversion. You were destined to live with people, In a world, a world that is theirs. From Despair. Love is a dream that will never materialise, To Romance. I said "Easy, I love you." From Naturism. As I gaze upon your strange, black,
When his journalist friend, nicknamed 'Eagle', said he wanted to have his charicature drawn, Enzo suggested he write a poem to go with it. THE EAGLE They call him Eagle, he stands proud; He knows how to win bread and provide. A man who's always well above the crowd; Who for life would need no guide. They call him Eagle, he's seen it all; And he likes to swear and drink; But I've never once seen him fall- Though he's pissed to the eyeballs, I think. They call him Eagle, living his life; Seeing the bad and not much good. Enzo was born in the rural village of Torrice, Italy, and emigrated with this parents to Australia, where he grew up in the Sugar Cane town of Childers, Queensland. He enlisted in the RAAF from school and then as a civilian again worked at several occupations from Advertising to Cab Driving. He wrote poetry from the age of 18, not for any purpose of publishing them but as a means of expression. He helped teach a Children's Ministry class each Sunday with his Church, and developed many characters while teaching. At the Age of 26 he traveled to Italy to visit his birth place, and many relatives he'd never known. The travel-bug had now bitten him however, and once back in Australia, he used the freedom of Cab Driving, to travel again, this time, the world over, and he lived out one of his fantasies, which was living in Israel, where he worked for two years. He attended Christian Heritage College in Brisbane, Australia, where he completed a BA in (English & History), and began teaching. After studying Children's Literature he turned his hand to writing, and wrote the Tsami & Tsado trilogy. He then completed a BEd (Italian & English) and MA (Applied Linguistics) at the University of Queensland. In 2004 he began teaching English in North Carolina high schools, USA where he has found a wealth of inspiration. He lives in rural St Pauls with his dog, Caleb, an Australian Shepherd of course, and his Chooks (chickens in America). Enzo attends the First Pentecostal Holiness Church, and approaches his writing with a philosophy which says, 'if the story is not going to up-build and teach something lasting, why bother writing it?

These three volumes were begun by Enzo at the age of 18, and he continued writing as he pursued different occupations and careers. The poems are largely drawn from his own experiences and or observations. Enzo rejects the notion of many modern poets who say that ‘good’ poetry shouldn’t rhyme, and although some of his don’t rhyme, he insists that a rhyming poem shows that the words are put together in a much more painstaking way. At the age of 21 after he’d written the first two volumes, Enzo met his Lord and Savior and his poetry changed as well. The style of writing did not change however and this can be seen throughout the many forms his writing takes. The poetry in this third volume can be said to be Psalmic in a way. Enzo drew much of his inspiration from the Holy Scriptures as well as his own walk in Christ. In the long poem titled simply "Nomad", he outlines the toil and struggle one goes through in one's life. Many of the Parables of Jesus have been topics which can be seen throughout his writings. All three volumes have been arranged chronologically, as this shows the ongoing learning that we all experience. Each of these poems has a Scripture attached to it, which speaks of the essence of the meaning of the poem. His prayer is that you can draw inspiration from reading them as he has from writing them.

Here is a sample of the poetry within. When the author had had enough of being impeded, he comtemplated this way. THREE-EYED MONSTERS They impede the people's progress, They infuriate the rushing businessman, But they won't stop those in distress, Though they'll stop you whenever they can. They change around and bring a park To little cars and even big trucks And disobedience to this standing monarch Brings sirens and fines, you pay your bucks. They stand alone through hours of darkness, Enzo was born in the rural village of Torrice, Italy, and emigrated with this parents to Australia, where he grew up in the Sugar Cane town of Childers, Queensland. “The writer believes strongly in the ability to use words to persuade the reader, to evoke emotions, to extract humor, and to entertain. Summer Home Review brings this revelation to anyone who will read and listen.” Berred Ouellette, “…the place that all poets strive to reach, where poems just are, without explanation.” Preston H. Hood, III “Octavio Paz has said the poem--the full poem--is a circle one half of which the reader creates. What I think he means by this is that the poem that appears in print gets the chance to speak to strangers, and strangers get the chance to speak with it. A poem sometimes needs to sit inside the desk drawer, but sooner or later every poem wants to get out and walk around, to live and breathe in the world. A good literary magazine never forgets that its greatest achievement is in helping that poem live among us. Maybe the poem is immortal. Maybe not. What counts is that it gets its first chance at a life beyond the confines of the writer.” Fred Marchant “This anthology is more than a gathering of poems, prose, play, and translations. Summer Home Review Volume II is a convergence of paths: a literary labyrinth that honors the included writers and their mentors. Like travelers in a labyrinth, the poets included in SHR II have reached the center and with the publication of their work are making their way back to the beginning. This book begins for you at the center. If you choose, you may walk with them. Between the lines they have left for you sacred gifts. Enjoy the journey.” JMLoring

By Shirley Jucal Black
Trailing Emotions is the second poetry book authored by Shirley J Black, which continues from her first book – A Place For My Soul Filled With Flowers, which exposes the author's pure feelings and emotions from a life dealing with cancer. From confusion and pain to love and life, Shirley tells a story in poetry of the reflections of her life. Trailing Emotions is wholly embodied in the emotions of her later life in 2007 having lived through the pain and emotional agony to a certain stage. Culminated in this book is not just the story of her livelihood and fight against her medical conditions, but the emotional distress in the lack of intimacy and her lack of romance and love for her loved ones. This book is a reflection of Shirley’s aggressive determination and strength to prove to others in her capacity of how one can be a role model even through trying times, like hers. She further goes into the depths of her love life and the dreams of an ideal setting should she had never faced herself with a deadly disease like breast cancer. A truly sensational and intimate poetry art is delivered in this book through her own preferred and selected words.

By Patricia Pericic
Limitless Limits is a poetry collection that reveals poetic genius pushed to the extreme limits. A mix of philosophical and naïve innocent portraits depict a world that is infinite in the finite. Modern questions try to grasp meaning in non meaning as the question of identity is examined. Limits are defined through the portraits painted in the words that reveal and conceal being that is other. Themes that deal with love, loss, death and abandonment are explored in the words that come from (no)where? WHO? In a mAd world of eXcEss. Desire is impassioned as it is pushed to the limits that are limitless. The void inside that is not able to fill the lack in being cries out in anguish and horror. Being comes from who knows where and goes to who knows where—an absent presence. Around in time that is circular—in love.
