These projects were formatted for 30 minutes of child participation with some prep by the teacher and some by the child, depending on the age of the child. But they can certainly be done at home. I did projects in 3 temples. They all needed me to keep the cost down. These projects are economical because they had to be. I wanted Jewish kids to understand the incredible depth and beauty of their religion. I wanted to teach Judaism through crafts. Children remember hands on. I went to a bat mitzvah at Temple B’Nai Israel in Galveston years after I had left. Kids surrounded me that had done projects years before, and described their delight in doing a project that I didn’t even put in the book, a project involving adding headdress, necklace, bracelets, ear rings and nose rings to Moses’ Egyptian adoptive mother. I had forgotten all about it. They never will.

By Al Cazu ( Alan G. Williamson)

This book contains a collection of sixty three artworks created by Al Cazu. The images are accompanied and supported by extracts from journals and lyrics written by the author. The subject matter reflects on an ongoing relationship with the ocean and coastline, these images are interlaced with pictures that derive from the artist's past life.

“Something On My Mind began as a notion but while living on the beach and swimming the tepid waters of the south coast it has become a reflection of my past and present. ‘Life’s A Dangerous Thing’ mirrors parts of my life so far. ‘Beyond My Will’ are small comments on that which creates memories and changes direction. Periclitatus Proprius (Endangered Species) is what I have become.”

By Carol Ter Haar Illustrations by: Rachel Anderson

While finishing my meal at a family restaurant, I looked down and, to my horror, discovered chocolate ice cream stains on my freshly laundered white blouse.  I glanced around, hoping no one had noticed.  At the next table was a young child in a booster chair.  She had also slobbered over herself.  She smiled at me and we bonded…knowing that life is a rerun.

An adult’s life is sometimes mirrored in that of a child.  Read this book through the eyes of a young child and then reread the book through the eyes of an older adult.  You will agree that life is a rerun.

Make your LIFE colorful…and it’s okay to go outside the lines every once in awhile.

Carol Ter Haar captures the essence of living when she wryly observes life is a rerun.  She injects humor and joy into the aging process by showing the unique understanding that exists between the well-matured person and the youngster.

Every older adult needs this unique coloring book, as well as at least one copy for each grandchild and for each member of the “sandwich generation” in the family.

Presented in an interactive format that both adults and children will enjoy, Life Is a Rerun offers a touching message all generations will comprehend so well they will want to make reading the book a rerun.

Lee Davis, editor, Fleur de l’Age®

With wit and heart, Life Is a Rerun gives readers and would-be artists opportunities to reflect on the cycle of human life and to smile about it.  The author and illustrator use their talents to create a unique book that lets us look at life situations through the eyes of older adults and those of young children to understand, truly, life is a rerun.
